The Big Bill Foundation was established in 2021 to honor the legacy of Bill Robinson, the co-founder of Fit2Run, who passed away in 2020 after battling leukemia. Bill Robinson was more than just a businessman; he was a beacon of hope, deeply committed to nurturing his community and upholding strong family values. His passion for making a difference lives on through his three sons, who founded the Big Bill Foundation to carry forward the spirit of their father’s life.

The Big Bill Foundation is dedicated to celebrating Bill’s lasting impact by offering educational scholarships to young adults and children who have faced the formidable challenge of childhood cancer. Each scholarship recipient embodies a journey of resilience, hope, and the relentless pursuit of their dreams despite adversity. These are the journeys that the Big Bill Foundation proudly champions, where the strength of the human spirit shines the brightest.

“That is what cancer has done for me - set me on a path that perhaps I wouldn’t have wandered to if I didn’t know the nuances of cancer. Maybe I would have become a pediatrician in a life without cancer, or even still a pediatric oncologist, but I wouldn’t have had any understanding of childhood cancer beyond the biology of it; it wouldn’t have been the place where my head and my heart align so perfectly. I wouldn’t know the responsibility we all have to dream bigger, to dream the impossible. So, I dive into something so terrifying in that it is so personal, and so impossible because I have to make my years count… I work each day for my future because it was not a given that I survived, but God, I’m forever grateful that I did.”

“At age 17, I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. When you get a shocking and life-threatening diagnosis right when you are about to head to college, you learn a lot about yourself and your goals for the future.... I continued to explore my passion of giving back to the cancer population through University of Florida Shands Hospital’s Streetlight volunteer program. During my time with Streetlight, I have had many meaningful and lasting connections with patients.... After much soul searching, I know I want to become a pediatric oncologist. My [desire] to be a doctor since [I was] a child just needed a life-changing experience to fuel the desire and remind me of my reasons [for] wanting to go this route.”

"Although my battle against cancer started at a young age, it is something that I have carried with me forever. After finally becoming cancer-free, I faced more physical and mental ailments than I could have ever imagined. Having cancer has made me more compassionate, giving, and perhaps most ironically of all, happier. From a very young age, I found my passion in life: to help others. I am getting my bachelor's degree in health sciences and psychology, with aspirations of attending medical school in the next few years. More than anything, I want to turn my dreadful bout with cancer into something amazing."
